That's a Wrap: 2020 OLAC & PBIS Showcase
On December 15, 2020 more than 2,200 Ohio education leaders joined us virtually for the 2020 OLAC & PBIS Showcase. The Showcase combined the best of the OLAC Action Forum and the Ohio PBIS Showcase and featured keynote sessions from Dr. Douglas Reeves and Dr. Kent McIntosh, along with 19 practitioner-led learning sessions.
All courses, including keynotes, will be available on-demand to those who registered through December 29, 2020 at 12 p.m. After December 29, all participation and attendance information will be collected and personalized certificates of completion will be emailed to participants within 30 days.
New Resources to Support Ohio Educators
As we wind down the first half of the 2020-2021 school year, we are excited to share three new resources. Remember, all resources are free and you can earn credit.
Ohio Improvement Process (OIP) Module
The new Ohio Improvement Process (OIP) module provides an overall description of Ohio’s primary strategy for supporting school districts’ efforts to improve outcomes for all learners, including the core beliefs underlying the OIP. The module also explores:
- Ohio’s Leadership Development Framework,
- Changes in practice promoted by the OIP,
- OIP theory of change,
- Team communication, and
- The 5-step process.
Advanced Work for Teams Webinar Parts 1 & 2
Successful teams are those that grow together over time. This two-part webinar series will help teams assess their current level of functioning and together build a culture where collaborative professionalism is the norm. Part 1 addresses the four pillars of effective teaming, and the critical role psychological safety plays in team development. Part 2 includes supports that must be in place to develop psychological safety needed to reframe the work of teams leading to improved outcomes for all learners. Five Things Principals Need to Know and Do Webinar Parts 1 & 2
Principals have a variety of competing activities they engage in each day. This two-part webinar series identifies the five things principals must do that have real impact on student and adult learning. Five Things Principals Need to Know and Do Webinar Part 1 addresses how the principal can improve outcomes by focusing the work and creating a learning culture. Five Things Principals Need to Know and Do Webinar Part 2 focuses on team learning and how teams can increase collective capacity through deliberate practice.
Coming in 2021
For the second half of the 2020-2021 school year, the OLAC team will continue to offer its professional learning series, a series of free professional learning sessions designed to provide educators with the structures and resources necessary to develop and support effective leadership at every level. Explore OLAC’s latest online learning tools, including modules, webinars, videos, podcast episodes, and more to support educators as they work to embed essential leadership practices at every level of a school system.
The team is also working on several new podcast episodes, Cornerstone Connection articles, remote learning videos, and more. Watch for announcements on the release of these resources.
