3 Things You Don't Want to Miss at the 2018 OLAC Action Forum

Empowered to Lead, Inspired to Act

On December 12, the Ohio Leadership Advisory Council will host its annual Action Forum at the Ohio Union at The Ohio State University. If you’ve attended in the past and are thinking that there’s nothing new to learn, think again! We have a new line-up of district-led teams, keynote speakers, and more.

Here are three things you don’t want to miss!

  1. Get the Latest on Ohio’s New Principal Standards

Want to learn more about Ohio’s journey to the new principal standards? Carolyn Everidge-Fry, Director for Teaching, Leading, and Learning at the Ohio Department of Education will share information on the new standards and how they are designed to support principals through their highly impactful work and help to ensure the critical success of the learning environment.

  2. Hear from Dynamic, Nationally-Recognized Leadership Experts

Dr. Brandon Doubek: Moving Teams Forward to Increase Student Learning

A founding partner of Creative Leadership Solutions, Dr. Brandon Doubek has extensive expertise in achievement gaps and the intentional use of data. In his keynote address, he will focus on moving teacher, building, and district teams forward to authentically increase student learning through differentiated instruction by focusing on intentionally-aligned data and effective, research-based practices.

  3. Dr. Brian McNulty: How Do Schools Get Better?

Dr. Brian McNulty is no stranger to Ohio and the work of OLAC. In his luncheon session, Dr. McNulty will share what he has learned over the past 10 years and will explore how schools should address each student’s well-being and academic success, including the development of social-emotional learning in schools. Specific guidance will be provided to teacher-based teams and building-leadership teams in leading this improvement.

  4. Learn Practical Strategies and Ideas from Ohio Educators

With more than 20 learning sessions to choose from, there is truly something for everyone. Hear from district-led teams as they share their stories about the work of their district and building leadership teams, teacher-based teams, and the impact on all learners—students and adults. From urban, to suburban, and rural, you will have the opportunity to hear from districts across the state.

Whether you’ve attended in the past or you’re thinking about attending for the first time, you don’t want to miss this affordable professional learning event. Mark your calendar for December 12 and bring a team of colleagues or yourself and take advantage of an event designed to create an environment to network, collaborate, and encourage shared leadership at every level of the school system.
