Spring Resolutions and Planning for Summer

It may seem strange to make spring resolutions - it's been months since new year's, and resolutions have long come and gone by now.

But for educators, spring is the best time to make resolutions. The current school year is beginning to wind down, and planning for summer and next year is in full swing.

OLAC has a number of tools and resources to help during this spring planning period so you can make the most of the next couple of months and plan for a great start to the 2016-2017 school year.

Incorporate OLAC in your Summer PD Plan

Summer is the perfect time for educators of all levels to engage in personalized, at-your-own pace professional development.

OLAC has a number of free resources, including more than 20 online learning modules and 19 webinars on a variety of leadership, school improvement and OIP topics designed to support leadership at all levels.

Educators who complete OLAC modules or webinars can use our Credit Corner to earn credit and contact hours for completing OLAC work that can be applied toward license renewal or individual professional development plans (IDPD). As a new enhancement, OLAC users who complete an online module or webinar will receive a certificate of completion. This enhancement was made in response to user feedback requesting a certificate to use in obtaining CEUs.

In addition to the online modules and webinars, the Credit Corner also includes workshops designed to help higher education faculty and certified OLAC facilitators help groups of educators take a deeper dive into the OLAC modules. Contact hours can be earned for participating in these workshops.

Use OLAC resources to support report card data and OIP

Since the release of Ohio's district and school report cards, districts have been working in teams at all levels to use the report card data to identify areas of success as well as areas for improvement.

The free tools and resources provided by OLAC are the perfect complement to your school improvement efforts. OLAC resources are designed specifically to enhance and accelerate work with the Ohio Improvement Process (OIP), and offer evidence-based, job-embedded online learning resources to help develop leadership practices that impact student learning.

As you review your report card data, our module Creating Cultures Grounded in Data is a good resource to support leadership teams in using data to inform and improve teaching and learning.
